Heart To Yours
Michelle Williams is best known as one third of Destiny's Child, but on her debut solo album, she wants you to know her as God's child.

Heart to Yours, which is in stores now, is an inspirational gospel record about building a relationship with God, according to Mathew Knowles, who manages Destiny's Child and Williams. "Destiny's Child are inspirational, but this is nothing like Destiny's Child," he said. "It's totally different. As is Beyonce's solo album."

Knowles said the theme of Williams' album is best summed up by the chorus to the first single, "Heard a Word": "I heard a word/ Saying you'll be fine/ I heard a word that would ease my troubled mind/ Took all the hurt away/ Warmed me up inside like a summer day/ So glad you'd never break your promises."

Williams co-wrote the song and four others on the album, including the title track and "Better Place," which was inspired by September 11. Produced by Damon Elliott (Destiny's Child, Pink), "Better Place" is an emotional tribute to those who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks.

"I know it's hard to keep a smile on your face/ And nobody could ever take their place," Williams sings. "Every mother, every sister, brother/ Every child that's gone/ I know they're smiling, looking down on your face/ In a better place I hear them say/ Can't nobody hurt me/ Can't nobody fade me/ I'm resting in a better place."

Williams' younger brother, Erron Williams, produced some of the tracks, as did Warren Campbell (Sisqo, Angie Stone) and gospel producer HR Crump.

Destiny's Child appear together on "Gospel Medley," which also appeared on their Survivor (2001). Other guests include Carl Thomas on "Heaven," Men of Standard's Isaac Carree and Lowell C. Pye on "You Care for Me," Mary Mary on "So Glad," and Shirley Caesar on "Steal Away to Jesus."

On the same day Heart to Yours hit stores, Destiny's Child release's their autobiography, "Soul Survivors."

Williams is the first Destiny's Child member to release a solo album, though Beyonce and Kelly Rowland will follow suit later this year and early next, respectively.

Their solo albums will only help the group, Beyonce said earlier this week. "When we come back together, it's gonna be stronger than it was because doing things by yourself, it forces you to grow, and I know when we come back, the music that we come up with is gonna be so incredible."

Matthew Knowles Lawsuit
Destiny's Child manager Matthew Knowles is facing a lawsuit after allegedly spending £20 million of the group's profits on sex and drugs.

According to the family of Andretta Tillman, who co-managed the group until her death in 1997, Knowles wasted millions by "engaging in unproductive, unreasonable and, or, improper acts".

In their lawsuit, Tillman's sons claim that Knowles failed to mention his "addiction to cocaine and extramarital sexual activities" and that he took part in "solicitation and, or, marketing of prostitutes" and organising "sex parties".

According to the Daily Star, singer Beyonce is said to be "heartbroken" after her father's confession that he was a cocaine and sex addict.

Knowles is also reported to have told a US magazine that he had twice attended a clinic to receive treatment for "marital infidelities".

However, Knowles' wife Tina has rubbished the recent lawsuit, claiming: "He'd be dead if he'd spent £20 million on drugs and sex."

She added: "Beyonce knows her father hasn't done the terrible things he's accused of doing."

Future Solo Albums
To ensure they don't rival each other on the charts, the ladies of Destiny's Child will stagger their solo albums over the next year and a half and pursue film and television projects in their respective musical downtimes.

First up with a solo disc will be Michelle Williams, who is planning a gospel album for early next year, according to Mathew Knowles, DC's manager and the father of singer Beyonce Knowles. The record will include Williams' duet with veteran gospel singer Shirley Caesar on "Steal Away to Jesus" - a ballad that will first appear on Caesar's album Hymns, due October 30. Williams plans to record the remainder of her album before year's end and will mark her arrival in the gospel world at January's Stellar Gospel Music Awards. Destiny's Child's "Gospel Medley" and "Outro (DC-3) Thank You," which originally appeared on Survivor, will serve as bonus tracks on Williams' disc.

Beyonce is expected to announce next week that she has accepted a supporting actress role in a major movie, her father said. After completing that project, she will turn her attention toward a solo album, due next fall.

Kelly Rowland's solo debut will be the last to drop, surfacing in early 2003 and sporting an "alternative R&B" style, Knowles said. Kelly's plans in the meantime include making appearances on television, beginning with a guest-star role on an episode of the Nickelodeon sitcom "Taina." The episode will be shot in early December.

"I wouldn't want any of my artists to directly compete with each other," Knowles said. "They're so multitalented that while one's working TV, the other can be working a record."

Between all the solo projects, the ladies will still find plenty of time to be a trio. Destiny's Child are planning to headline a tour kicking off in March or April that will also feature Beyonce's younger sister, Solange, and other artists managed by Knowles. The trek will concentrate on cities that Destiny's Child didn't already visit on MTV's recent "TRL" tour.

Solange is scheduled to release her debut, Solo Star, in February. Solo Star's title track appeared on this summer's "Osmosis Jones" soundtrack.

The album will also include a duet with Beyonce and a guest appearance from Destiny's Child. Solange and DC already collaborated on the theme song to the Disney Channel's animated series "The Proud Family."
